Beginning in 2010, small employers with 25 or fewer employees and average annual wages of $50,000 or less could apply for a tax credit to help them pay for the cost of health insurance. The tax credit increased in 2014 but at that point was only available for two consecutive years. What this means is that most employers who were ever going to claim the tax credit have already done so. In this course, we take a thorough look at the small group tax credit, but our guess is that you won’t be recommending it to any of your clients.
