In this two-hour CE class, we take a look at the latest changes to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Some of these changes, like bigger penalties for using HSA money for ineligible expenses and removing OTC drugs from the qualified expenses list, are a result of the Affordable Care Act. Other changes, like the $500 FSA rollover and creation of Qualified Small Employer HRAs, are more recent developments. We’ll also discuss the positive and negative changes that could come with the eventual ACA replacement plan, including the damaging effects of a cap on the employer exclusion and the the potential positives of the promised expansion of HSAs. With consumer-directed, account-based plans poised for explosive growth in the near future, this information is a must for health insurance advisors.
