The Trump administration, as well as congressional leaders who are working on an Affordable Care Act replacement plan, have all included HSA expansion in their proposals. Among the changes that have been proposed are increasing the contribution limits, expanding the eligibility requirements to include people with Medicare Part A and people who are part of a Health Care Sharing Ministry, and allowing spouses over the age of 55 to make catch-up contributions to the same account. In this class, we’ll take a look at all of the proposed changes from the major health care proposals and discuss the possible impact on group and individual clients. By knowing what changes are on the horizon, brokers can better guide their clients who currently have or are considering establishing a Health Savings Account.
